The Association of Certified Fraud Examiners noted in their 2018 Report to the Nations on Occupational Fraud and Abuse that small businesses tend to lose twice as much to fraud schemes as compared to large businesses. Small businesses usually lack a good segregation of duties for employees. When small businesses commit tax fraud they are usually trying to hide revenue and expense personal items as business expenses. In this course we will review the various ways small businesses commit tax fraud. We will discuss the red flags that could be indicative of tax fraud. Current cases from the news will be presented for discussion.
